We are seeking expressions of interest for attendance at a 1-day DV-alert Multicultural workshop and 1-day DV-alert First Nations workshop.

Please note that Learners attending these workshops need to have previously attended any 2-day DV-alert workshop or completed an accredited online DV-alert course as these workshops build on the DV-alert foundational learning. These workshops aims to grow your knowledge of the complexities and nuances of domestic and family violence within different contexts. 

The 1-day DV-alert Multicultural workshop focuses on domestic and family violence in culturally and linguistically diverse contexts, including settlement and humanitarian settings. 

In this course frontline workers will learn how to:

  1. Recognise, Respond and Refer appropriately and with care.
  2. Identify and respond to the needs of multicultural clients who may be experiencing domestic and family violence
  3. Respond appropriately with immediate interventions and support needs of multicultural clients including safety planning 
  4. Refer multicultural clients to appropriate services for support.
 
The 1-day DV-alert First Nations workshop focuses on family violence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander contexts. Frontline workers will learn how to Recognise, Respond and Refer appropriately and with care.
 
In this course frontline workers will learn how to:

  • Identify and respond to the needs of First Nations clients who may be experiencing family violence
  • Respond appropriately to immediate interventions and support needs of FirstNations including safety planning
  • Refer First Nations clients to appropriate services and support.
 
For either or both of this course to go ahead we need to receive a minimum of 22 interested people PER COURSE.  If you are interested please go ahead and fill in the EOI form with your details selecting one or both courses you would like to attend. Once we know the outcome we will let you know by email and invite you to complete a formal registration.

You’ll gain an understanding of the complexities of domestic and family violence. Learn how to recognise the signs, how to respond safely and how to refer when necessary.

Course details:

1-Day DV-aware is an interactive workshop which provides a safe space where participants can learn how to recognise and respond to domestic and family violence and what they can to do to help make a difference.

DV-alert workshops are led by experienced trainers dedicated to reducing violence against women and their children.

What You Will Learn

In attending our 1-Day DV-aware workshop you will:

  • know how to identify the different signs and forms of abuse that constitute domestic and family violence
  • learn about the Cycle of Violence and the Power and Control Wheel (The Duluth Model) reflect on and share what you can do if you know someone who is experiencing domestic and family violence
  • have an opportunity to network with other individuals receive tools and references for domestic and family violence support and referral.

 

Who This Course is For:

Our DV-aware workshops are for the general public. The workshop is free for all adults living in Australia. Minimum age: 18-years-old.
