Lifeline North Coast, NSW, delivers much-needed support to the national Lifeline 13 11 14 phone service. We are a regional Lifeline Affiliated Centre based in Coffs Harbour and provide regional localised services between Nambucca Heads and Bowraville in the south, to Yamba in the north.
We use retail and paid training businesses to cover the cost of our national and community service offerings. We have retail outlets in Grafton, West High Street Coffs Harbour, Vernon Street Coffs Harbour, Toormina and Nambucca Heads.
Lifeline North Coast has been proudly serving our local community for more than 35 years.
We are active partners in the national network that provides a high-quality telephone service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to those in crisis. We focus on suicide prevention through this service, and we align with Lifeline Australia’s vision for “An Australia free of suicide”. Our capacity comes from the many committed volunteers who work with us, and we are guided by our volunteer Board of Governance.
We contribute to a national suicide prevention phone, text, and online service. We are a part of the robust national network providing Australians experiencing a crisis with confidential access to 24-hour support and suicide prevention services.
Our crisis services are maintained by volunteer Crisis Supporters (CS) who are trained and accredited by our training team. We provide crisis support to our community, and we participate in local suicide prevention, bereavement, and mental health initiatives.
We are a founding member of the Our Healthy Clarence initiative in Grafton. Lifeline North Coast is also the regional provider of GambleAware which is funded by the Responsible Gambling Fund. Lifeline North Coast plays a key role in providing support and community engagement on behalf of the NSW Government, with the key objective to encourage responsible gambling and help reduce gambling-related harms within the local north coast region
Lifeline North Coast exists to ensure that no person in Australia has to face their darkest moments alone. Our experience has shown us that it is through connection that we can find hope. We are available 24 hours a day to listen, without judgement to any person in Australia who is feeling overwhelmed, experiencing crisis or longs to be heard.
TO SAVE LIVES TO PROVIDE CONNECTION TO EDUCATE AND SUPPORT
We have 5 shops across the NSW North Coast region, which sell donated goods like clothing, books, furniture and bric a brac to raise funds for out counselling and support services. When you donate to Lifeline you’re helping prevent items from ending up in landfill.
Did you know 36,000kg of clothes are thrown away every hour in Australia. When you choose to shop preloved, you’re supporting the slow fashion movement and saving on natural resources. You are helping to take steps to save the planet by reducing waste and your environmental impact one purchase at a time. Together we can take small steps to lead to bigger change.
Without the crucial support, skills and unique perspective of each one of our volunteers we wouldn’t be able to support the community as we do, every volunteer plays a vital role to deliver our services and make our communities stronger.
