Domestic and Family Violence Prevention with DV-alert workshops

Everyone deserves to live a life free of violence, control and fear.

The month of May is Domestic and Family Violence Prevention month, held annually to hold space for those who have lost their lives to domestic and family violence, raise awareness around the many profound impacts of DFV, highlight the supports available, and recommit as a community to do more.

DFV can happen to anyone, although overwhelmingly, women and marginalised communities continue to be the most affected. Every two minutes police are called because of a DFV related incident, and on average, one woman is murdered per week, and one man per month, by a current or ex partner.

So what can you do?

First and foremost, being aware, and knowing how to support someone if you see the warning signs. Lifeline North Coast has qualified and experienced trainers in DV-alert workshops and we have a number of DV-aware 2 hour workshops which are available to anyone over 18 in the community, and DV-alert 2 day workshops available for frontline workers. These workshops will teach you how to ‘Recognise, Respond and Refer’ in these situations. Browse our full schedule of upcoming dates:  https://lifelinenorthcoast.com.au/dv-alert-workshops/

If you or someone you love may be experiencing domestic and family violence, there are a variety of support services available:
